Use the Calendar module in your Mobile App to promote your events or quickly link to registration forms!
The calendar imports events from an outside source calendar, saving you the double work of managing multiple calendars!
Did you know? The Calendar module is fully integrated with Amplify People (ChMS). When you add an event in People, it dynamically appears in your Mobile App!
Select Your Source Calendar:
- Dynamically through People
- From a 3rd-party calendar (such as Google Calendar)
Display a Calendar from People
To import a calendar from People, toggle on the Calendar Feed from ChMS Integration and select a Calendar View from the drop-down menu that appears.
Note: A Calendar View is a custom set of events based on filters you create. Most organizations create a calendar view titled "Website" or "Public" to display public-facing events. Learn more about calendar views.
Events from your People calendar appear in a list view. When you tap an event, additional event information is displayed.
To find events, users can scroll up or down, tap on a month to jump ahead (or back), or tap the magnifying glass icon to search by event name.
What Event Details Display?
New Update! More event information displays using the integrated People calendar.
Logged-in users will see helpful information such as the primary contact person and associated event rooms.
Admins can see even more detail for planning, such as approval status, event requirements like childcare or tech, or vehicles being used. Read more below!
Which event details display vary based on whether the user is logged in to the Mobile App and on their permissions within People.
Details on each updated user view are described below.
Note: The examples below include every event detail that 'can' appear in the Mobile App.
Remember: Only the event details set up in People will display. For example, if your event doesn't have an associated room, the Rooms section won't appear in Mobile. For more, see Calendar Setup and Settings.
Non-Logged-in Users
When the Calendar Module is enabled, any user with access to your app can see the items below.
- Event Image
- Event Name
- Event Day, Date, and Time
- Event Description
- Form Button
Logged-in Users
If an individual logs into the mobile app, they'll be able to see more event information. In addition to the above, this includes:
- Event Recurrence (displays in a gray 'pill button')
- Event Location (such as Campus)
- Rooms where the Event will be held
- Event Owner Contact Info (a helpful email or call button will appear to the right of their name)
People Admins or Calendar Admins
If an individual is logged in and has the People Admin Security Role or is a Calendar Admin, they can view much more information, helpful for event management. In addition to all the above, this includes:
- Event Approval Status (Appears under the Event Time in a 'pill button' style)
- Event Properties
- Event Requirements (Childcare, Tech, and Kitchen Responsibilities)
- The approval status will appear, along with any Comments added in Amplify People.
-
Vehicles assigned to the Event
Event Images:
If an event from People is linked to a form with an image, you can choose to display the form image with your event. To do so, toggle on Display event images (below).
Note: Any events not linked to a form with an image will display a placeholder image.
Note: The Event Feed updates approximately every 15 minutes. So, when adding new events to the calendar, allow a small time cushion, refresh the app, and your event will appear.
Display a 3rd-Party Calendar
Most third-party calendar tools, such as Google Calendar, provide an ICAL URL to share events. Simply copy and paste this URL into the ICAL EMBED LINK field, and your calendar should dynamically populate with your events.
Events from third-party calendars will typically display just the Event Name and Event Description.
Remember... if we've learned anything about events, it's that anything can change... even at a moment's notice!
Should you need to edit event information, remember that you must do so at the source calendar, meaning the original Calendar, not the Calendar module within your Mobile App.
FAQs
Integrated People Calendar: How do I disable Event Images?
Toggle off Display Event Images. This removes the placeholder image, which may improve the display when only a few of your events are associated with Forms that include images.
Integrated People Calendar: Who can see all event details in the Mobile App?
Only People users who are Admins or Calendar Admins.
In other words, even if you've created a custom permission role in People, such as permissions to manage all events within a certain Calendar View or Campus, a user must still be a full Calendar Admin to see all event details in the Mobile App.
